Bernie Sanders is drumming up support for his presidential bid in New York ahead of the state’s primary.
The presidential candidate vying for the Democratic nomination spoke to a crowd Wednesday evening in New York City’s Washington Square Park.
The Sanders campaign estimates 27,000 people turned out for the event.
When Sanders walked onto the podium, the crowd chanted “Bernie, Bernie.”
“It (the campaign) is about creating a political revolution,” Sanders said. “It is a campaign about not ignoring the veterans who sleep out in the street, the children, the elderly or the poor.”
Sanders also trumpeted the fact that he has beat his opponent, Hillary Clinton, in 7 of the last 8 caucuses and primaries.
The New York primary is scheduled for Tuesday, April 19th.
